The Africorp Group of Companies (AGC) was started in 1981, from humble beginnings in Kariega (formerly Uitenhage), Eastern Cape. It started as a retail supermarket, which later grew to a 40 000sqm wholesale and retail distribution centre known as Alliance Cash and Carry. Prior to its sale around 1993, it was the largest independent FMCG goods wholesaler in Africa
